Adam West Hug

One of the highlights of my life was getting to meet Adam West at my first-ever San Diego Comic Con. It was the same Con where my now-husband and I started dating. Mr. West and his wife were so beyond nice. He loved a Jewish Humor Calendar that I had published, and took a separate picture with it to help me promote it. We happened to find him on a random aisle, and there was no line to see him, so we got to chat with him for a while. He was everything I'd hoped he be and more. The picture we took with him has been on display in our household since we first got married. He was and always will be my favorite Batman.

This hug is for him. It's for all of us who miss him already. Below are some photos of meeting Adam West, and how his version of Batman played an important part of my wedding.

This photo has been framed and featured in my apartment from the beginning of my marriage.

Mr. West and his wife (partially captured on his right) loved my calendar, and was happy to pose with it.

At my wedding, my hubby and I were "kidnapped" by the Riddler, and were rescued by Batman & Robin.

Part of the choreographed fight scene to help "save" hubby and me from being tied up by the Riddler. The fight scene was set to the tune of the Adam West Batman theme song.

Luke Skywalker Hug!

"Alright, I'll give [this hug] a try." I was requested a Luke Skywalker hug by Ian Fults from British Columbia.

I am aware that many of you will be seeing The Force Awakens tonight and tomorrow. I won't be able to go for a week or two... So I implore the following favors from you all. Spread if you feel the same way!

Happy Star Wars IIV eve!

A little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming out. You may have heard of it. I drew a Princess Leia hug in honor of it. Who's your favorite Star Wars character?

Artists Hug!

I was lucky enough to be invited to go on the Reciprocity: LA Artist Retreat last week. It was a wonderful experience, and a true gift to spend time bonding with 20+ artists of various backgrounds and art fields. I wanted to share the love by creating this "Artists Hug"! Here's a hug for all you artists, whatever your talent is.

Gilmore Girls Hug!

Last week was an exciting week for Pop Culture fan. I'm not just talking about that slightly highly anticipated Back to the Future Day. Those fans of the highly-acclaimed TV show Gilmore Girls were blessed with the news that a sequel for Netflix is in the works. So here is a Lorelai & Rory Gilmore hug for every fan of one of, if not THE most beloved Mother-Daughter duo in all of television!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Hug!

Tomorrow, October 21st, is National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day. I am posting about it today to raise awareness, because such an important day will surely be overshadowed by a one-in-a-lifetime pop culture phenomenon day that also takes place tomorrow. Unless you've been living under a rock for the last several years (aka entirely off of Facebook and other forms of social media), you know exactly what I'm talking about!

Israel Hug

As a Jewish person with many family and friends in Israel, including my sister, it's been absolutely terrifying to read about what's going on there. I drew this last night to post later today, but I'm posting it now because I just got off the phone with her and she heard the ambulances of a terror attack nearby before it was on the news.

Every man, woman, and child is a potential target to be mercilessly attacked for the crime of simply being Jewish and living in Israel. Every day I've been seeing more and more statuses on Facebook of friends who have had "close calls", where either they or their family had just missed being in a spot of an attack. A particularly horrific video that is currently circulating is one where a terrorist drives into a crowd of people at a bus stop, exits the car, and proceeds to butcher a man with a knife. In one of the first attacks, my high school music teacher's cousin and his wife were murdered in a car in front of four of their six children. They were my age. In another attack, a woman and her 2-year-old toddler were stabbed in the same attack that killed her husband and another man. The number of daily attacks is escalating, and the body count is growing.

Words cannot properly express how shaken I am to the core over this wave of terror, so I put my feelings into art. Here is a hug for the entire Jewish community worldwide. We are united, we are strong. When the world is filled with much darkness, we must remember to bring light; to be extra kind, caring, and loving. We must learn to put all our differences aside and to support each other. To everyone in Israel, be aware and be safe. And to my sister, I love you.

Panda, Horse & Pug Hug!

Here's a panda, horse and pug hug for Adi Bodenstein, as requested by her husband Boaz Hepner. I understand these are a few of your favorite animals, and honestly, who doesn't love pandas, horses, and pugs? =0)

Walk the Moon Hug!

If you have not yet heard the insanely catchy song Shut Up and Dance by the band Walk the Moon, stop everything you're doing and watch the awesomely 80's-inspired, fun video. If that doesn't manage to put a smile on your face, then check out the Shut Up and Dance Movie Compilation Video. (My new life goal is to see every movie featured in this video). Or the Shut Up and Dance Official Lyric Video. If you're like me, each video made me smile more than the next, and I love all three equally. I am also still not tired of the song. Walk the Moon's other hit, Anna Sun, is one that I enjoy listening to on the radio. So, in the vein of my Earth Wind & Fire hug, I am now doing a literal Walk the Moon hug. I dedicate this to my amazing husband, who also shares my obsession with this song and plays this song as much as I do. =0)

Pen Pal Hug!

I've had a few pen pals in my childhood, but only one has stuck around as a friend. So I wanted to dedicate this hug to my pen pal/friend Guy on his birthday today! We may not write via snail mail like we used to (I think I'm actually "it" and have owed him a letter for a while...sorry Guy!) we've known each other for about 15 years now. It's nice to know that before Facebook there was a time when the power of pen and paper strengthened a friendship bond. =0)

Hugging Angels!

After yesterday's Matt Smith hug and a previous Tardis hug, I decided to keep the Doctor Who hug fest going with a "Hugging Angels" hug.  There are few things that creep me out more in pop culture than the freaky Weeping Angels in this beloved BBC show, and so when Keith Robinson of CA suggested a Hugging Angels hug, I thought it may be a good way for me to overcome my fear of these moving statues. Not sure if it worked, but one thing's for sure: you won't want to blink while checking out this hug! =0P

Boris & Natasha Hug!

Since Valentine's Day is approaching, the next few hugs will be of beloved couples. First off are some of my all-time favorite no-goodniks- Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale. A fun request by David Pere of NY (aka my uncle!) following the Rocky & Bullwinkle hug from yesterday. Hope you enjoy this hug, dahlinks!
