Yesterday was September 21st. More importantly, last night was the 21st night of September. So you know what that means; I have not been able to get my most favorite song in the world out of my head these last couple of days! Oh, you know what song I mean... September, by Earth, Wind & Fire! In celebration of my favorite song, I (literally) drew an Earth, wind and fire hug of the day! I also read a really interested article about the back story of the song and why the song sustains so well in movies, media, and most importantly, wedding celebrations (such as my own, where it was the unofficial first dance song for my husband and me!). Derek Jeter Hug!

I first became a Yankees fan in the summer of 1993. I was 7, going on 8. Don Mattingly was my favorite player. The Yankees did not make the playoffs, but I fell in love with the Bronx Bombers in Pinstripes. A couple of seasons later, Derek Jeter joined my beloved Yanks. So I only had 2 seasons before Jeter led the Yankees dynasty to win 5 World Series. 5! As any sports fan knows, getting to see your beloved team win one championship is a dream come true. But I, a fourth-generation Yankees fan, got to see my favorite team in pinstripes win 5 times. I barely even remember a time that that Yankees were without Jeter. And after this season, there will not be another time that I will get to see him play for them.

Yesterday was Derek Jeter Day at Yankee Stadium. When this season ends, we're all going to need a big hug to fill the void of the most respected player in baseball (and arguably all of sports). Jeter, our captain, we're going to miss you! <3

Cheese Pizza Hug!

September 5th is Cheese Pizza Day. To say that this is one of my favorite "new" holidays is an understatement. I think I may have to find a pizza to hug today... with my mouth!! *Drool*

The Quest Hug!

If you're not watching ABC's The Quest, then you are missing out on some FUN television. I first heard about it from my husband, whose friend Bonnie Gordon happened to be on it. But I first fell in love with the show when I saw the promo for it during Comic-Con at the ABC booth. It's "Lord of the Rings" meets "the Amazing Race" and is just fantastic Reality TV unlike anything I've seen before. Not only is there an ongoing storyline (The Quest to save the land of Everealm from the evil Verlox), but it really is a feel-good competitive show. The point of the contestants is to be the One True Hero, and a hero must know how to work well with others. It's been fun to watch contestants grow and work together, and really decide who is eliminated based on who is qualified to help reach the final goal of saving Everealm (not simply eliminate those who threaten one's chances of winning it all).

Since Bonnie is truly the contestant with the biggest heart on the show, today's Hug O' The Day is for her. Good luck, Bonnie! We're rooting for you!

Guardians of the Galaxy Group Hug!

If you are one of the many, many, MANY people who "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" with Guardians of the Galaxy this summer (like me, in case you couldn't tell), then there's nothing that you'd want but to "Go All the Way" and get a big ol' group hug from our new favorite rascally heroes. Come on and "Escape" with us and our "Space Invaders...in a Moonage Daydream" for a few glorious seconds of spaced-out hugging-ness.
